In short, the series focuses on what the interviewee is doing in the areas of earning, saving, and investing. Now, let's continue on with our journey... Monday, January 8 When we were planning our trip to Grand Cayman (after we had already selected the dates) we found a site that listed all the cruise ships … [Read more...]

Five Steps to Creating a Winning $25k Blog
Over the course of a few posts, I've mentioned that this site has turned into a nice side hustle (if a retired person can have a "side" hustle). Specifically, it's on track to make $20k to $30k this year, and that's if I don't push it. Given that the site has been around for just over two years, one of which I wasn't focused on doing much, that's a pretty good … [Read more...]
Grand Cayman Trip and Tips, Part 1
As I detailed last week, we took a trip to Grand Cayman in January. Over the course of a few posts (which I'll spread out a bit) I'm going to detail what we did, give some tips for making the best of a trip to the island, and throw in a few pictures for fun. I'll list the events by day and put in tips where they seem appropriate. How We Roll Before I get into specifics, … [Read more...]
Our Trip to Grand Cayman
After we canceled our cruise, we began looking for Caribbean islands to visit. I still hadn't given up my desire to go to the Caribbean in early 2018, though I was wondering what our options might be since we were starting to look in mid-October. I was thinking we might have slim pickings by scheduling at the "last minute". As I said in the initial post, we wanted to … [Read more...]

Saturday Posts, Millionaire Month, and a Few Random Thoughts
Welcome to a Saturday post! This is an extra for the week and while it's uncommon, it will become less so from now on. More on that in a minute, but first let me give you some background. Post Schedule Over the past year or so I have posted three days a week -- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (MWF). In addition, I have settled into what I'll call the "MWF formula" -- … [Read more...]
2017 Credit Card Rewards
As I noted in my annual budget review, we had 2017 income of $3,980 from cash back credit cards. This puts us at $17,525 earned since 2006 (including 2016's amount). It's not going to change the world financially, but it's money we earn for doing nothing differently (we'd still spend on the same purchases), so why not? Today I'll detail how we were able to get to this … [Read more...]
